Where can you find wall to wall smiles and curiosity being cultivated by the bushel on Shelter Island? Imagination Island, of course! Serving an unmet need for childcare on Thursday and Friday afternoons, Amy and Taylor meet the children in the lobby of the Shelter Island school at 2:30pm and walk them across the street to the playground at Shelter Island Presbyterian Church, where they are encouraged to be kind, create, and explore until 5:30pm.

Over the past few months, we have done a plethora of crafts, most of which using recycled materials found at the Goodie Pile and donations. Some of our recent crafts include magic wands, spell books, pressed-flower pumpkins, yarn-wrapped Coca-Cola bottle vases, string nail art, and orange pomanders. We love using recycled materials, therefore, we are currently in need of donations of fabric, buttons, beads, yarn, paper, magazines, and vinyl records (discs).

We also ask that you consider donating something even more valuable: your time! We are in need of volunteers to spend time with us and the amazing kids at Imagination Island. Even one hour a week would be greatly appreciated. Please reach out to Amy at imaginationisland.si@gmail.com for more information.
