For Members of the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church, the 2026 Per Capita apportionment is $42.51.
This contribution goes a long way to supporting the mission of the Presbytery including:
· Your Presbytery staff and office (when Laurie, Kate, or Charlaine answer the phone = your Per Capita dollars at work!)
· Staffing for the Enduring Witness Team, which provided $1000 grants to each church in 2025 and continues to receive applications for additional grants from our congregations
· Presbytery Day, which in 2024 provided a day of workshops and learning for our congregations, and in 2025 was led by the PC(USA) Office of Innovation
· Supporting youth from our congregations to attend the Presbyterian Youth Triennium
· Presbytery Zoom chats, connecting our congregations around topics of interest
· The resources of Practical Resources for Churches
· Presbytery meetings
· Resources on the presbytery website, including the pulpit supply list
· Prayer, Connectional, & Enrichment Nexus newsletters
· Support for congregations in transition and pastoral searches
· The work of our presbytery committees and commissions that resource churches
· Preparation of candidates for ministry
· Record-keeping for ministers and congregations
· Training for elders and deacons
· Resourcing Pastor Nominating Committees
· Reference and background checks for pastor candidates
· Gatherings for pastors, CREs, and clerks of session
· A Presbyterian presence in ecumenical and community partnerships on Long Island
· Synod of the Northeast’s Early Ministry Institute for new pastors
· Publication of the Book of Order and Book of Confessions
· The biennial General Assembly gathering
· Maintenance of statistics and records by the Office of the General Assembly and the Presbyterian Historical Society
